Ok, so I'm sorry, I'm a slacker! I must admit I don't know what to write on this blog most of the time : )

I have received many questions on my new place, so here are the answers for ya:

*Back Porch Memories will be expanding its' horizons here in Fairbanks! I am not planning on a 'regular retail store' but I will be hosting crops and classes and will have much more inventory available there than online. Although, I will also be expanding my online offerings as well. If you are looking for something be sure to contact me, I may have it or can certainly get it for you.

*Nope, the space is not in my home. That is one adjustment I am having to make. I was used to being able to work any hours of the night I wanted in my jammies! I am sure I will learn to be much more productive..... {yeah, right}

*I am hoping to post some pictures of the progress soon. 'They' are suppose to take out all of those booths and chairs this next week. WOOHOO! And I am hoping to order all of the tables and chairs this week, too.

*Having products shipped to me from the vendors is proving to be a challenge! I will have to be very creative.

It hasn't actually been too terribly cold. It was nice over Thanksgiving, warmer here than where I moved from!

Today the sunrise was at 10:14 am and the sun will set at 3:05 pm. Three weeks until the shortest day of the year, then we are on the up swing!

You know that feeling of having so much to do and being so overwhelmed with something that you just don't know where to even start? That's where I am now. I found a home for Back Porch Memories, it has so much potential but it sure needs a lot of work. It will be so fun to have a place to have crops and classes!

It is so cold here, can you believe it has already been below zero? Our house is on the lake and it is already frozen, ackkk! I can hardly wait until winter, lol.

Happy Halloween! We didn't know what to expect here for trick-or-treaters, but we didn't have any at all! I have treat to give away anyway - kem1223 email meto claim your prize! I figure since it is Halloween, one more Rusty Pickle Halloween album is in order.

I have been looking, looking, looking for a place to house Back Porch Memories and I am happy to say that I finally moved all of my stuff in today! It needs lots of work but I have quite a bit of room to play with. I will take some pictures and post them for you all to see, I will try to do it tomorrow. It will be fun to see the progress over the next few months!

Thanks so much for all of your encouragement during this gigantic move! You girls rock!

First things first: I promised a drawing for a $20 gift certificate and it goes to Jenni G - Jenni, email me to claim your prize!

We had a nice surprise! Scott's company wanted him back up her as quick as possible so they sent someone down to help load the truck and drive it and the trailer up here so we could fly! Of course that means you don't get to see pictures of the drive up, but we were thrilled : )

We left Billings, MT yesterday where it was a nice 75 degrees. When we got to Faibanks last night it was 10 degrees and snowing! It never got out of the teens today... And to answer the next question, it is getting light a little after 9am and gets dark about 6pm, but we are losing 7 minutes of daylight a day right now.

I am looking at places here to move Back Porch Memories into, it is an exciting time! I have had so much fun giving things away and getting to 'know' you all that I am going to keep drawing names for prizes! I will draw one a week from all the posts since the last drawing. The day will be different each week so make this a quick daily stop to check in.

We are mostly packed now, so I will have cut off shipping now. All of the orders up until this point will be shipped by tomorrw. Any new orders that come in will not be shipped until I am somewhat settled in Fairbanks. I am hoping by the end of next week!

We are so close to leaving, but I still have so much packing to do!

I have had lots of questions about this upcoming move, so here are some of the answers!

We are moving to Fairbanks, Alaska because Scott took a job up there. He has had this ongoing job offer there for the past several years and we have toyed with the idea but didn't want to move our daughter the last two years of school. Now that we are 'empty nesters' we decided to have one last big adventure! (Although, I think this might also qualify as the first big adventure.)

I am still keeping Back Porch Memories Kit Club open for business. And, NO, there will be no postage increase to you. I also am excited about the fact that I will have real office space! I plan on having cropping space and some classes. Maybe if enough people want to come to the frozen tundra we could have an Alaskan adventure scrapping retreat : )

And even though it is beautiful there, it really is no comparison to where I live now. I live in 'God's Country' now. We are planning on coming back here to Sheridan after living in Fairbanks for 8-10 years. Of course, plans change...

Many of you have seen this picture of my daughter when her new husband left for Iraq - and thank you for all of your prayers!

But now I wanted you all to see the happy ending! Ben returned home yesterday, safe and sound!

I know some of the endings aren't as happy. I want to say thank you to all of those who serve our country willingly. Whether the war is right or wrong, I am proud to support our men and women doing their jobs so we are able to have our individual thoughts on the subject!

{timing is everything}

Yep ~ timing is everything right now.

We are trying to get the timing just right for me to make the move to Alaska. When I started Back Porch Memories, I thought I would be busy a few weeks a month and the rest of the month would be easy breezy life as normal. All I can say now is HA! Trying to figure out the best time to move this business is proving to be a challenge. There is never any down time to make an obvious transition.

It is looking as if Scott will be coming home on the 14th and we will take about a week to get things together then it's off again on the long drive to our new home. We are hoping the weather will still be good! I can't say the drive excites me : ( considering this will be the second time we will drive it in two months...

Well, I am feeling like lightening my moving load a bit! So, I am going to give away a 2007 Creative Escapes Project Portfolio and Inspiration Guide. Well, I thought it was time for me to join in on this blogging thing. As if life isn't full enough...

The kits all went out today, thank goodness for Carrier Pick-up! It is funny, my postman has actually called me to find out when he is suppose to be here. And the UPS man - he saw me one day at my mom's work and asked if he could just put my packages in the back of my car to save a trip. Those are some of the things I love about living in a small town. Those and things like always knowing what my kids were up to! The girls aways hated that - but, the youngest is already back home after leaving me an empty nester for all of 2 weeks. She has decided that this small town is much better now that she is not in high school anymore, go figure. Of course that means a move to Spokane August 15th and a move back home from Spokane the beginning of September. If that isn't enough, I was in Fairbanks, AK at the time leaving my in-laws to move her home. Why was I in Alaska? My husband took a job there in June, he came home to help move Stacy then we drove a trailer full of household stuff from Sheridan to Fairbanks. I will be moving to Fairbanks, as well, when the housing is settled. I told you, life is full!
